Our Story

In 2022, my father and I were in the workshop completing sets for Little Women. I noted two sets of stairs, a 2-step and a 3-step stair unit, were required.

During the past 20 years, we built many stairs for various shows. I questioned the rationale of the various theatre companies each building stairs units for the various shows. I pondered if there was a different way to share inventory for various theatre companies to benefit.

In my University of Regina entrepreneur class, one of the assignments was to create a theoretical business with an evaluation. I decided to investigate the current theatre market in Regina to determine if there a possible gap.

I determined that most performing arts companies do not have the space, time, or budget to keep inventories well-managed and secure. Thus, ENCORE Sustainability in the Arts was created.

Knowing the industry and its struggles I decided to add on Creation Studios to provide access to all of the space and equipment required to make and customized sets, props, and costumes. As I thought more on subject, I realized I had access to a sewing room, and a wood shop my whole life and it has allowed me to be my best creative self.

Not many other people have had the same opportunity and I wanted to correct this. I decided that it was important to allow anyone to come use my creation studios to allow them a safe, comfortable creative space.

Being Neurodivergent, the pandemic really hit me hard, I found it hard to leave my house because I didn’t know if  or when I would be triggered by being part of the neurotypical world.  I want ENCORE to be a space where anyone can feel comfortable coming to hang out or craft and not worry about the possibility of being overstimulated.

There will be  sound canceling headphones, eye masks, and heating pads that will all be available for you if you are struggling in anyway.
